 Savona
is the second biggest city in Liguria, beside the Ligurian Sea.
It has served for years as the main export harbour for the vehicles
produced in nearby Torino . This has given the town the name of
"port of the Piedmont".
 The
city, which is also industrial, rises on a plain near the mouth
of the Letimbro, on the west coast of italy. It is divided into
three historical areas: the ancient one close to the old harbour,
with buildings from the Middle Ages to the baroque period; the nineteenth-century
one, of Piedmontese inspiration, up to the Letimbro; and the most
recent beyond the stream and towards the hills.
